#CIA & #NSA Shadow Government(s) Slowly Being Sanitized with Daylight

I’m not much for conspiracy theories. Mainly because I’ve been out in the world and seen more incompetency than ability to control an entire country with hundreds of millions of moving parts under wraps. However, I do believe that there are political and economic interests in charge who use shady methods to stay in charge and have the resources to keep their actions secret, quiet, and more hidden from the general public than obvious. The NSA bulk surveillance, war profiteering, media consolidation, and of course all of those political assassinations and military coups during the 1960s would be some examples of hard to ignore conspiracy theory fodder events.

I have been wondering what the effect of social media will have on the military, CIA and NSA. Specifically; as more people are able to instantly stream, document, back up, and show the world an event before they can be black bagged, put in a truck, and sent to Guantanamo; will daylight start to sanitize the shadow government(s)?

Obama, through Jay Carney has officially condoned the Bush era. By not only staying silent, not pursuing an investigation, and now obstructing a Senate investigation into the ‘enhanced interrogations’ Obama is now just as responsible and complicit as Bush and Cheney were and are. Change? Certainly change that big donors and shadow government officials can believe in. The illusion of change, the illusion of choice, truly the legacy Obama leaves behind after two terms. At least his wife is trying to publicly combat obesity, good for her. More and more people are seeing who is pulling the strings and making the machine that is the United States move. There will only be more people with more access to real time information going forward. What effect(s) will this have?

Will the ability to witness, share, and spread information around the entire world in real time get more eyes on the activities of our military/defense agencies? When more people are more aware of the budget sizes and activities of these agencies how will they react? Will this generation spur change or follow the hippies and become even more greedy and war hungry than their parents? I think change will happen slowly, as all important change does. Forget morals, I think people in ‘Merica will not want to be taxed to pay for these trillion dollar defense budgets. They’ll want those resources that are going to other continents being used in their counties. Just a guess…or a hope, whatever.

Too #Fat To Live

At what point do we stop lying to ourselves about the obesity epidemic? When does the bullshit about big is beautiful come to an end? When are we going to be able to admit to ourselves that the results of not wanting to work out enough doesn’t constitute a ‘realistic’ body image?

People are dying because they’re too fat to live.

Heart disease is the number one killer in America, why? Bad diet and lack of exercise. Deep fried carbs and minimal physical movement is not a natural evolution of man. Food is not an acceptable counter balance to stress, exercise is, check the data.

Epinephrine needles are now too short to fit all the way through the thick layers of fat of the obese. We are literally becoming too fat to live. Changing Barbie’s waistline, switching to Diet Coke, and doing a ‘cleanse’ once or twice a year doesn’t mean shit if you’re airways are constricted and the needle with the drugs that relaxes said airways can’t fit into your fat fucking thunder thigh.

I understand, it is easy to put on weight and hard to lose it. I recently lost 60 pounds, it was hard but it wasn’t an effort or sacrifice of biblical proportions. Speaking of portions, that is a key. Graze, don’t eat big meals. Six to eight small ones throughout the day based on lean protein, veggies, and that’s it.

You can still have fruit, grains, dairy, candy, fast food and soda. Just switch your paradigm to looking at all of those things as dessert. Everything that isn’t lean protein and veggies is dessert, eat in moderation and as rewards for doing your work and accomplishing your goals. Not once a month, once a day. The same applies to liquids. Cut all liquid consumption down to water, tea, and black coffee. Everything else is dessert, literally, have you seen the sugar content of whatever flavored drink you like? Had a good day, end it with a can of soda. Got all of your workouts in this week, have a sundae on Sunday. If you hire  personal trainer they will teach you the actual, physical value of the cheat meal. Know that you don’t have to give up junk food entirely, just regularly.

You’re living a life, not training for the NFL Combine. Take your time, set up a six month to one year plan to phase it all in. Don’t go to a boot camp, start with nothing but body weight training and calisthenics for 10 minutes total a day, three days a week, and move up in two-week increments from there. Don’t let P90x and Jillian Michaels scare you. Take your time, start with the bar low, and slowly, very slowly work your way up. Think in terms of months and years not days and weeks. Trust me, every bit helps. We’re in a golden age of fitness. You can find help and support online for free or for cheap. And if you have disposable income, good lord, the work is 2/3 done for you already, you just don’t know it yet.

Everything in moderation in life except the pursuit of your dreams. Eat to live, don’t live to eat. In America we got that one mixed up and as a result we are literally becoming too fat to live. Now you know, and knowing is half the battle, adjust accordingly.

Justice Comes for #JohnyHendricks

Johny Hendricks finally got the title belt that he won four months ago. At UFC 167 in November Johny Hendricks literally beat GSP into retirement. Hendricks got shafted by the judges that night when they somehow awarded a the win to to GSP by decision. Hendricks left GSP a beaten bloody mess with cuts all over his face and not a scratch on Hendricks.  GSP decided he would rather quit the sport than give Hendricks a rematch. This past Saturday at UFC 171 the now vacant title was decided in a match between the top two contenders in the division; Johny Hendricks and Robbie Lawler.  The fight when the full five rounds and Hendricks won by decision. There is no controversy this time around. Although Hendricks beat up Lawler less than he beat up GSP, he was awarded the UFC Welterweight Championship.

Much like Shogun Rua before him, Hendricks had to wait for karma to get involved in the fight after he got screwed out of winning a world title.

Hendricks is a great fighter who is also actually entertaining to watch. Unlike Lyoto Machida who is the UFC version of watching paint dry. Though his recent move to 185 has seen Machida be a little more spry and slightly more aggressive, likely because he sees the end of his career is much closer than the beginning. Hendricks however is just getting started. Whether he’s got that belt or not, “Bigg Rigg” has five more years of fighting left in the gas tank. He’s a young guy, with great wrestling, concrete hands, who likes to finish. This was only his second fight going to the judges in his last six.

There have been a number of horrendous decisions in mixed martial arts in the last few years. Dana White, the UFC President has been as outspoken about them as anyone. But what the judges do is completely out of his hands as they are appointed by state athletic commissions. What White can control is encouraging his fighters to not let fights reach decisions. He flat-out says that, and gives bonuses for finishing fights that are equal to or greater than the standard paycheck a fighter receives simply for fighting.

Hendricks has already picked up a few KO of the night checks and will likely be getting more fight of the night honors before his career is over. One has to wonder if GSP will come out of hiding for a rematch with Hendricks. The money is there, but that is a given for GSP who is the highest grossing box office fighter in UFC history. But there interest with the hardcore fans will be ravenous. Hendricks has the belt and everyone knows he got screwed by the judges in their first fight, but who doesn’t want to see Hendricks get another crack at GSP?

That answer is simple, GSP and all of his future spouses. Hendricks left him a beaten, bloody mess in their first encounter. It isn’t often a fighter literally gets beaten into retirement as Hendricks did to GSP at UFC 167. Or maybe GSP retired in disgrace because the fans wouldn’t stop booing him after the BS decision win, whichever…whatever.  Johnny Hendricks knows he won that fight, and after winning his most recent fight he’s got the belt, the recognition, the cheddar, and everything he’s had coming to him since he started destroying his competition in the UFC four years ago. Justice came for Johny Hendricks on Saturday at UFC 171, for those who saw the GSP fight, it felt as good for us as it does for Bigg Rigg.

The Syrian conflict recently turned three years old. The anniversary has been marked around the world with #StandwithSyria gatherings and candlelight vigils. The anniversary has been marked in Syria with continued genocide against the civilian population by the military of Bashar Al-Asaad. The conflict in Syria is one in which the numbers speak for themselves.

When did the conflict begin? March 6th, 2011.

How did this situation start? The government/military opened fire on peaceful protestors. It is as if Obama/Bloomberg sent the army into Occupy Wall Street with shoot to kill orders.

What caused the protests in the first place? A gathering protesting the release of political prisoners in Deraa, Syria. Military/security personnel opened fire and killed 15 people. Both the protesting and the executing of civilian, peaceful protesters continued to escalate.

Where is the conflict at now? Civil war with each sides allies propping up each side with military and economic aide. Asaad’s allies are Iran and Russia. The resistance’s allies would be the US and EU.

Why hasn’t the US, EU, or UN intervened directly? That is the big question. There is no answer that doesn’t involve bias, cynicism, skepticism, or posturing. With those numbers it is hard to fathom the some western power getting in there. The closest any western power has gotten is the US threatening to go in if Asaad didn’t turn over all of his chemical weapons. He presently is, so the US has stayed on the sidelines. Reasons commonly cited are a lack of oil, direct US interests, threat of a proxy war with Russia and/or Iran, and the vast size of the country making a ground war even more of a rabbit hole than Iraq or Afghanistan.

I am for a military intervention for the first time in my life. I really do believe that with those numbers the US should send in troops. Just my opinion, I wouldn’t argue it. I just know that we have gone in other places for far less. I read a news story about Syria usually every day. Because every day there is something just gut wrenching to report. There have been multiple chemical weapon attacks against civilians, though the US will only acknowledge one. Those numbers at the very least grab anyone’s attention more often than not followed by sympathy for those in the trenches.

Save the Children is a good charity to give to if you are able to. Islamic Relief USA is a good charity for a variety of reasons.

Syria is one of the few news events in my lifetime that always makes me stop and think whenever I see something about it. Something like that going on in the world I live in at the same time as social media and Starbucks. Bosnia, Iraq, 9/11, Obama becoming president…none of those grabbed my attention as much as the first time I heard about it three years later. Syria does, I’m not sure why. I’ll still pay attention and try to help in the little way(s) I can, and I hope you will too.

#China’s Great Wall of Recession

China’s influence on the global economy is well documented. If you don’t know what it is; since the mid 1990s China has basically become the straw that stirs the drink that is the global economy. Why? After all Europe as a whole and the United States are technically bigger players with more liquidity in the markets.

The reasons are how much money has been moving into China because of their precedent busting annual economic growth rates, in addition to their purchasing of US government debt. All major international economic players have been investing in China two decades, and they basically own the United States the way a bank owns your mortgage or your credit card debt. China is the world economic HBIC whether people like to admit it or not, and they don’t.

They don’t like admitting it, but they’ll put their money there. Manufacturing, real estate, consumer goods purchases, GDP, and every economic indicator in China has been going one direction since the Clinton administration, up…until now.

To maintain their status of belles of the ball in addition to maintain what has appeared to be unmaintainable growth rates, China’s government has essentially been cooking the books to make their economy look stronger than it actually is. Ironically their downfall may be identical to the downfall of the US economy circa 2008, real estate.

Last season on VICE on HBO, the ghost cities of China were explored and showcased in crystal clear high-definition for the world to see. The Chicago Tribune recently did a feature on Chicago architecture firms building skyscraper after skyscraper in an architectural arms race in the new metropolises of China. The very well researched and written article showed the highlights and low lights of the urban migration of the Chinese population. Some of those low lights included more ghost buildings, ghost towns, unemployment, and environmental problems.

The economic numbers on paper aren’t matching up with the physical reality of the external world. Wow, I guess China is becoming more like the US every day. I kid, I kid, they are actually becoming more like Japan every day by taking steps very similar to that of the Lost Decade.

The other economic catastrophe shoe may be getting ready to drop. Although GDP growth grew, it is at its slowest pace in 15 years. Manufacturing and trade are both down, two cornerstones of China’s economic darling status. The only things that are sharply moving up are industrial bankruptcies and inflation.

If you’re still reading you’re probably wondering why you should give a shit. The answer to that is simple. If China goes into a recession or depression, so does the rest of the first world because anyone who invests has money tied up in China.  If a run on the bank occurs in China, what is to stop them from doing a margin call on the US debt they’ve been purchasing since the 90s? And if that happens, what exactly happens?

It may not be time to move all of your money into canned tomato soup and shotguns…yet. But it looks more and more like buying American may not just be for cars and furniture anymore. It might be time for anyone with a mutual fund to make sure their assets aren’t being remedied with any eastern medicine.
